Sri Lanka is a wonderful country to travel through, even with children. We started the trip in Negombo where we visited the local fish market during the first days and sailed with a small boat via the Dutch Canal to the Negombo lagoon to do some fishing ourselves.
We continued our journey to Unawatuna which is right next to Galle. Galle is a port city and there is a large fort that was once built by the Dutch.
A highlight of the trip was Ella, which is located in a fantastic area and has a very nice atmosphere. There is also plenty to do. You can climb Little Adam's Peak, see the train drive over the Nine Arch Bridge, but it was also the starting point for the train journey to Kandy that winds through the green tea plantations. In Kandy we were especially impressed by the flying foxes in the Peradeniya botanical garden.
